Associate Professor; Director, Graduate Program in Emergency Management; Chair, Division of Environmental, Natural & Technological Sciences
Dr. Swedis has been teaching in higher education for 20 years and has been on the faculty of Anna Maria College for the past eight years. She received her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts, beginning with a bachelor's degree in chemistry, an M.A. in Risk Analysis & Technology Assessment, and a Ph.D. in Environmental Science & Policy. In the emergency management field, Dr. Swedis focuses on the assessment and management of technological hazards and their impacts on human health and the environment. Her background includes work in non-governmental organizations involved in research and advocacy on science policy issues. Dr. Swedis also has been appointed to several Massachusetts state advisory boards and task forces dealing with public policy on hazardous substances.
Adjunct Professor Katharine Cederberg received her National Certification for Emergency Management from the International Association of Emergency Management (IAEM). She is a Nuclear Planner II for the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) – Region 1 office in Tewksbury, MA, and was formerly Training Coordinator for MEMA training students throughout the state in Incident Command. She received a master's degree from Anna Maria in Emergency Response and Planning in the first graduating class for that program, in 2003.
